Course Description

The course is aimed at learners who are fluent in English and also fluent in a second language. The learner must have excellent oral and written skills in both languages. The course has three exam options:

Scottish Law

Local Government

Health.

However, learners in Cardonald College will be offered only one option e.g. Scottish Law

There is an external examination set by the Chartered Institute of Linguists(I.O.L.) and has a written and practical component.

The DPSI is the only recognised professional interpreting qualification available in the UK for interpreters seeking work in the public sector.

Successful learners will be able to apply for membership of the Chartered Institute of Linguists

Cost

£450 + IOL examination fee (currently £565 but subject to increase by IOL) ILAs may be used against the college fee for this course. To find out if you are eligible for an ILA please phone 0808 100 1090. (Please note they cannot be used for the exam fee as this is set by the Institute of Linguists in London.)

Course fees are payable prior to enrolment.

Copies of any certificates/ diplomas obtained

Proof of English language qualification equivalent to SQA Higher lever

Learners are advised that we aim to have a minimum of 3 learners in each language group. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the organisations.
