The course aims to give practising or potential first line managers the foundation for their formal development in this role. The qualification does this by developing management skills and assisting participants in gaining the knowledge required at this level.

This course gives you an overview of some of the essential knowledge and skills required for first line management.  Existing managers will have the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills in order to facilitate their effectiveness in this role and thus improve productivity.

This qualification consists of one mandatory subject (Solving Problems and Making Decisions) and 3 other credits from a wide range of options.

All registered candidates automatically become studying members of the ILM for one year, free of charge, and can enjoy a range of member benefits accessible through the ILM website.

After successful completion of this course, you could progress to the Level 3 Certification in First Line Management, or to the Level 4 Award in Management.

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications are necessary if the candidate has the relevant management experience, or is working towards gaining a management role.
