This award is recognised throughout the UK by industry bodies as an essential requirement for anyone involved in carrying out assessment. Most Skills Councils require those carrying out assessments of their qualifications (usually, but not limited to SVQs) to have an Assessor qualification. The new Assessor Award will equip candidates to plan and carry out assessments.
The effectiveness of assessment practice will be enhanced. Employees gaining this award may allow organisations to apply for approval from SQA to offer various vocationally-relevant awards.
There are four sections in this award:
- Preparing to assess
- Planning assessments
- Assessing candidate performance and knowledge
- Confirming progression and achievement.
This course is fully supported by comprehensive learning packs and Moodle (a Virtual Learning Environment).
After successful completion of this course, you may progress onto SVQ 3 or 4 in Learning and Development.
