Since 2010 the Information Commissioner has significant powers to enforce Data Protection legislation in the UK with fines of up to £500,000.
Virtually every business needs to process personal data and, with few exceptions, is required both to register with the Information Commissioner and carry out this processing in compliance with Data Protection legislation. Failure to notify the Information Commissioner is a criminal offence.
This course has been designed for SMEs and micro-businesses where the Information Commissioner has not yet been notified or notification has taken place but the next steps are not clear.
