This course is designed to give an awareness of dementia, and is suitable for care workers with little or no experience of this subject.

It is seen as an ideal starting point in a care worker's training of dementia.

The course includes:

  • Introduction to the signs and symptoms leading to a diagnosis of dementia
  • Types of dementia, stages and possible causes.
  • Effects of dementia on the individual
  • Skills and qualities required to care
  • Identifying the needs of people with dementia
  • Students can progress onto 'Caring for People with Dementia'

Duration: 1 day or 2 evenings
