SVQs are work-based qualifications, which set the level of competence required by Health and Social Care workers. Assessment of competence in practice will be assessed in the workplace and induction will consist of five single days in the college. This Award is acceptable for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council.
The Award consists of six units, four mandatory units and two optional units including:
- Communicate with and complete records for individuals
- Support the health & safety of yourself and individuals
- Develop your knowledge and practice
- Ensure your own actions support the care, protection and wellbeing of individuals.

Entry requirements
Delegates must be working in a care setting and be involved in assisting service users with a variety of day to day activities. You may be involved in working as part of a team who support service users and you should be involved in accessing and updating records and reports.
