Active IQ Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training (QCF) & NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT)
This qualification will give you the knowledge and skills to work with individuals and groups of clients in a personal training setting, with an organisation or self-employed environment.
The world-leading NASM® courses, which have previously been available only in the United States, are now E-REPS and REPS recognized and provide a truly international qualification. It also provides access onto The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at Level 3.
The course has a blended learning approach. You will attend one induction day followed by four days and two 3 hour tutorials. You are required to commit to 36 hours of independent learning.
Modules
- Anatomy and physiology for health and fitness
- Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme
- Programming personal training with clients
- Delivering personal training sessions.
Subjects
- The scientific rationale for integrated training; basic exercise science; fitness assessment; cardio-respiratory training concepts; core training concepts; behaviour modification; and Professional Development
- Assessment will consist of a practical demonstration; assignments; exams; and a portfolio of evidence
- Our experienced trainers have strong links with Fitness First, David Lloyd, Next Generation and Esporta
- You can progress to employment or to other courses such as NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, NASM Older Adult and NASM Pre-Natal.
Course Cost
£1,500 including assessment and all course materials.
A payment plan is available. To guarantee your place on the course a deposit of £300 must be made by 30 August 2011.

Entry requirements
A suitable Level 2 qualification in Gym Instructing (Gym/ETM) or equivalent. If using the ETM qualification, there must be clear evidence that the candidate has appropriate underpinning knowledge of free weights and resistance machines
The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential, therefore a degree of physical fitness is necessary
There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) and application of numbers is involved, and candidates should have basic skills in communication
