The course covers the full Emergency First Aid syllabus as recommended by the Health and Safety Executive and St Andrew's Ambulance Association. It is taught in context with general and domestic situations, school and workplace activities and the type of incidents/accidents common to these groups.

The course covers the following areas: Resuscitation, Bleeding, Circulatory Disorders, Disorders of Consciousness, Shock, Burns, Diabetes, Epilepsy and Fractures. Practical sessions include: Wound Dressing, Recovery Position and CPR.

Students who complete this certificate can undertake the Appointed Persons Certificate and the HSE First Aid at Work Certificate.
